I'll take a #100 to go.

For Scott's birthday this year I bought him a subscription to National Geographic. I've enjoyed the subscription as well; the articles are always well done, and the photography is amazing. This month's issue focuses on where food begins and sustainable agriculture. It's a good read, but what really caught my I was this little tidbit.

Starting in September, three major grocery chains, as yet unannounced, will display a food's rank on the shelf tag. Created by the Yale Griffin Prevention Center, the ranking takes into account a food's nutritional content as well as it's effect on Health. It is hoped that the Overall Nutritional Quality Index (ONQI) will spread to all grocery stores as well as restaurants. Nifty! You can read more about the project here or the full article from National Geographic here (Hint: click magnify to read at full view).

Examples of rankings:

Instant oatmeal-61
Hot Dog-5
Soda Pop-1
